June 18, 2010 - Scavenger hunt clues? Check.
Cars packed with eager-for-adventure MB staffers? Check. The
promise of BBQ deliciousness from Steve's beloved meat shop, The
Butchery? Check.
MB's CEO Steve Klein recently invited the MB gang out to his home
on one condition - that we embark on a scavenger hunt: The Great
Richmond Travel Adventure. Our fearless leader created a Bells
Corners/Richmond version of The Amazing Race. It had us set astray
throughout the countryside, west of Ottawa, seeking clues in the
most unusual places. We accepted the mission and were divided into
five teams. And so the adventure began.
Teams began with staggered start times in the early afternoon. We
visited The Butchery, two golf clubs, the community of Bells
Corners and the village of Richmond, one church, a bunny patch,
drove past strawberry fields and gorgeous scenery, visited Steve's
neighbours, got a history lesson, checked out some local murals,
were enticed by a chip truck, and eventually ended up at Steve's
place. Answers in hand, there was a potluck feast/BBQ and then came
the bragging rights. It was a draw for first place between
Melinda's team and Sarah's team. Steve supplied prizes, which
consisted of gift certificates and goodies from the Richmond
Bakery.
